A lot of hype was going into Darnold this season. I don’t think he lived up to his full potential. It was not all his fault though. He did not have the best weapons. His weapons are average at best, outside of Ronald Jones(RB). His best Wide Receiver was Deontay Burnett and not to take away from his talents but he was not JuJu Smith. His Offensive line was not that great either. There were games where it seemed like Darnold had more yards then his running back because the Oline could not keep him clean. To Darnold’s advantage, I do think it helped him because it showed how tough he can be, by taking hits and using his legs when he has to. He showed he can get back up and still play with the same fire. His awareness is sound (could be better). He has strong accuracy mainly when he is throwing 20-35 yards out. Like Josh Rosen      ( Which is the other Qb I have at the top of my draft board). Sam has a quick release and he plays fast but he and Rosen have deep accuracy issues. Darnold is about 50/50 down field. He also played a lot of shotgun. So I’m unsure how his style of play will translate to the NFL when he goes under center. He needs to work on holding on to the ball as well, he seemed to get hit and lose the ball at times. I do think all his mechanical issues are coachable. I think he will be a stud where ever he goes.
